Spring in the mountains – Nature awakening in Maranza
In the spring, the splendid nature in the mountains of South Tyrol comes to life. While the mountain peaks are still wearing a white cap, in the valley the flower buds open up and the meadows shine in bright green. Warm air from the south melts the snow in the highlands, and the first flowers bloom. In the orchards of the Isarco Valley the apple trees are in full bloom and radiate a mesmerizing scent. On the farm Samerhof and at the holiday house Carpe Diem you may experience first-hand the spring awakening in the mountains. The accommodation facilities are located in the picturesque village of Maranza on a sunny plateau overlooking the Val Pusteria, and great hiking trails lead from here into the idyllic Altafossa Valley and the alpine region Gitschberg-Val Giovo.
South Tyrolean festivals and events in the spring
With the arrival of the spring in the mountains, in South Tyrol the time of festivals and special events begins. In the city of Bressanone, the festive San Cassiano Procession takes place on the 3rd Sunday after Easter – it is a solemn highlight in the spring. The procession leads through the medieval streets of the historic centre and attracts many visitors from near and far. Culinary delights await you during the specialty week “Eisacktaler Kost”, which takes place every year in March. A highlight on the apple plateau of Naz/Sciaves is the Apple Blossom Festival. The event has national significance and attracts visitors from all parts of South Tyrol. The music accompanying the celebrations is played by local bands, and on this occasion the participants love to present their traditional costumes.
